Utility craft objects transcend the thoughtfulness and creativity of their makers through the specific functionalities and forms. During the passage of time, the artifacts weathered and the functionality of their original intend have decayed, the de-functioned object became the subject of aesthetic. The metamorphose from humble utility ware into vessels of beauty, resonating with the silent eloquence of beauty.

These objects were once upon a time a practical table, a useful container, a bowl or a plate, even a functional wardrobe. They were integral to the ebb and flow of daily existence, vessels that cradled the our life stories and memory. Yet, through the passage of time, their functional value decreased and the increasing presence of their materiality, craftsmen’s skilful touch to be heighten.

In the curate of the exhibition, we meticulously present a selection of lacquered ware, each de-functional piece luminary in its own right. Through their thoughtful forms, intricate decayed textures, and masterful craftsmanship, we curated a specific perspective to view the enchantment of these decayed beauty—their existence through the passage of time is a form of aesthetic. The textures and details of each lacquered artworks evoked our imagination to their distant past.

Decomposed Radiance is an exhibition neither focus on the decay of craftsmanship nor the beauty of an object, but a transformation from functionality to aesthetic pursuit. These selected lacquered ware are the gateway revealing that beauty transcend traverse realms of spirit and sentiment.
